I didn't create this website to be used as a day-to-day blog, but I have three pieces of good news which all, remotely, pertain to the enjoyment and creation of music. In chronological order:
- I have recently taken up playing the trombone. At a recent barbershop practice, I mentioned that the trombone was a favourite instrument of mine. At this, the barbershop conductor responded that the school did have a trombone and he would be more than happy to arrange for me to learn how to play it. Thus far I have taken the trombone into my posession; I have learned to play four notes (three of which are used to play the French folk song Au Clair de la Lune); and my first official lesson will be later this month.
- I have purchased and received a new microphone stand. It looks a little bit like a robot, because I also ordered an extra arm to go with it so I could record my voice and acoustic guitar simultaneously. It sometimes scares me at night.
- I have ordered two more Beatles remastered CDs; Revolver and Let It Be. The former is a favourite Beatles album of mine, and the latter one I previously very much disliked but have recently warmed to, with the help of The Beatles: Rock Band for the Nintendo Wii.
Oh yeah, and that song I wrote? It's finished - done - but there are some minor bits I'd like to change before I release it. It's a band one, so I might get my friend and bandmate James Wood to come round and add the solo for me.
